Pinch River was created out of the desire to make products that celebrate longevity over trend. It was created out of the love of the maker’s mark, stories brought to life, and an artful approach to making that is unique to handmade products, making them that extra bit special, to be cherished and kept.
The name Pinch River comes from a physical place - it is a perennial river of the Snowy River catchment and is located in the Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales, Australia, where I live. The area is one of absolute natural and unspoilt beauty, the essence of Australia that inspires the designs.
Rooted in the Australian landscape, my work draws on a lifelong love of creative expression, nature, textiles and making. From my home at the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, I craft timeless, sustainable pieces inspired by the world at my doorstep, and the natural environments that I have spent time exploring. Other design inspiration is drawn from my travels, urban landscapes and daily life.
Small-batch handmade production is currently the way I work so by purchasing Pinch River textiles and products you are receiving them direct from the designer / maker giving you truly original pieces. Pinch River is resolute about passing on that human touch and preserving the artisan approach that is still valued by many and much more appealing than mass-produced items. A commitment to high standards, ethical practises as well as the environment drives the way I work, using the most environmentally friendly approach and materials as possible to create quality products. My designs are both hand-printed (using water-based solvent-free inks) and digitally printed (using eco-friendly methods) onto sustainably produced base-cloths.
